Please be aware that Aber Cottage is an historic Grade II listed building that was once three separate cottages. These were converted to one dwelling many years ago and as a consequence the building has a quaint and quirky feel to it. It does, however, mean that it is not really suitable for very young children or for guests with limited mobility. Please read the details below carefully before booking and do not hesitate to contact us should you have any questions.
Aber Cottage is situated in the centre of Dolgellau at the north end of Smithfield Street, close to the main public car park.
Entrance to the property is either through the front door, the opening of which is 850mm wide and through the inner hall door which has an opening of 780mm wide, and there is a small step at the threshold of the inner hall door of 30mm into the inner hall.
Or
By the back door which is accessed directly from the car park by means of metal steps 900mm wide with single handrail, and consisting of 6 steps down, each 180mm deep. Just inside the back door there are two steps up of 130mm. The access route through the main kitchen has limited headroom of 1690mm.
The normal access to the guest lounge and dining room is from the inner hallway. The double doors have an opening of 700mm wide and 1800mm high. From the guest lounge and dining room, a door 790mm wide leads to a downstairs WC.
From the inner hallway, the staircase leads to the first floor where all the guest rooms are located. The staircase is 740mm wide at its narrowest point, has 11 steps each of 210mm high. There is a good banister along the whole staircase which has a turn of 90° onto a landing that leads to the first floor corridor.
Please note that, due to the historic nature of the building, the floor of this corridor is slightly uneven.
There is a fire escape to the rear of the building. Access to the fire escape from the first floor is via a large, exit window at a height of 570mm above the floor and 12 metal, open tread steps to the car park. Access to the fire escape from the second floor is through a door and down 22 metal, open tread steps to the ground.
All three bedrooms are en-suite and each has a step up into the shower tray. These are 300mm in the Cader room, 220mm in the Mawddach room and 200mm in the Wnion room The floor in the Mawddach Room en-suite has a slight slope.
We would try to provide any necessary assistance in the event of an emergency.
